Rebecca Henderson at Houffalize World Cup Race
First-time Olympian, U23 Australian Champion, 2011 Elite Female Mountain Biker of the Year and Rubena sponsored rider Rebecca “Bec” Henderson continues to excel in the international mountain bike racing scene. She and fellow Aussy racer Dan McDonnell were recently named to the Australian Olympic team. This great news came fresh on the heels of Henderson’s second place World Cup race in Windham, New York. Thanks to that placement, Henderson maintains her second place overall spot in the 2012 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series. Congratulations Bec, keep up the great work, and good luck in the Olympics! Follow Bec’s progress on her website and blog: bechenderson.com.au.
Bec rides Rubena’s top racing 29er racing tires Scylla, Charybdis, and Zefyros tires depending on course and conditions. She had this to say about the Charybdis on her blog: “The weather had not been quite as nice as the days leading into the race. With rain over night the track was damp but there was potential that the rain and storms could hold out until later on in the afternoon. I chose to run the Rubena Charybdis tyres as they are pretty much the ultimate all rounders. Nice and light with plenty of grip, I couldn’t go wrong.”

The reviewers at twentynineinches put the tires through rigorous testing in various conditions and their reviews were very thorough and insightful. The mountain bike site mtbr.com posted their first impressions of the tires and shared some specifications and details on the tires from our site.
Here’s an excerpt from the twentynineinches review conclusions:

We have two new ads out this month. Look for them on the popular 29″er mountain bike website twentynineinches.com and the bike culture blog allhailtheblackmarket.com.
The website twentynineinches.com recently did a three-part review of the Kratos and Scylla 29″er tires. Here’s some excerpts from what they said about these tires.
About the Scylla:
“The hard pack conditions are well suited to this tire and that has confirmed my suspicions that the Scylla is indeed a specialists tire. The conditions made for fast speeds with great grip in corners, no doubt due to the dual compound tire construction here … The very rounded profile does allow for great turn in though. Got a sluggish feeling 29″er? This tire might help your turn in feel a bit. The rounded profile also helps with speed, especially if you get into higher pressures.”
About the Kratos:
“The Kratos is becoming one of my favorite “all around” tires. Continue reading …
